Principal's Welcome: Leadership, Vision, and Community at Queen Palmer Elementary

Dear Queen Palmer Families,

Welcome to Queen Palmer! If you are new to our school community, you have joined a truly special place. Queen Palmer is a close-knit educational community dedicated to nurturing the academic, social, and emotional growth of every child in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. We are proudly recognized by the Colorado Department of Education as a Performance School and if you ask your child, they will happily tell you what it means to be a Panda! 🐼

Queen Palmer is also a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School, where student voice, meaningful relationships, and leadership are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that when students feel valued and connected, they thrive.

I am honored and humbled to serve as the principal of Queen Palmer. This fall marks my 26th year in Colorado Springs School District 11, where I have had the privilege of serving as a Title I Teacher, Math Coach, K–12 Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal, and Principal. My family has a strong military background, which has deeply shaped my values and leadership. My father proudly served 24 years in the United States Army, and I spent several years overseas attending DoDEA schools—from Seoul, South Korea (my mother’s home country), to Würzburg, Germany, where I graduated high school. My daughter, Taiyah, is 22 years old and proudly serves as a high school teacher in Colorado Springs School District 11.

The military core values of respect, honor, courage, and integrity are deeply embedded in our school culture. Our students learn and live these values daily through Morning Meetings and throughout our learning experiences. At Queen Palmer, we are critical thinkers. We hold high expectations. We are a learning community. We boldly empower the whole child to make a meaningful impact on our world.

Our dedicated staff proudly supports more than 250 Pre-K through 5th grade students and families. Students experience a rich, well-rounded curriculum that includes CKLA, Eureka Math, Social Studies Alive, hands-on kit-based Science, Art, Physical Education, Music, Band and Orchestra (grades 4–5), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Library, and Technology.

Queen Palmer is also a one-to-one technology school. Each student is provided a device for school use—iPads for kindergarten and first grade as a supplemental learning tool, and laptops for students in grades 2–5—to enhance 21st-century skills needed in today’s information-rich world.

Beyond the school day, students have access to a wide variety of before- and after-school opportunities, including Leading Edge, Early Birds, Sports Challenge, Kids on Bikes, Leadership and Learning Academy (LALA) with USAFA cadets, a co-ed basketball team, and many other engaging clubs and activities.

I am thrilled to be part of the Queen Palmer family and invite you to join us as partners in teaching and learning. Together, we can ensure the very best for our students. Please feel free to reach out anytime with a question, a concern, a suggestion, or simply a “good story” to share—I would love to hear from you.

I look forward to working with you and your family this year!

With a smile,
Mrs. Christina Rosa
